Würzburger Kickers Secure Promotion to Germany's 3. Liga

Würzburger Kickers clinched promotion to the 3. Liga after winning both legs of the relegation playoff against Lokomotive Leipzig. The victory ended a four‑year spell in the Regionalliga Bayern and completed a “double” that also included the Toto‑Pokal.

The city of Würzburg honoured the team with a reception in the historic Wenzelsaal of the Rathaus, attended by Mayor Sandra Vorlová, Mayor Joachim Spatz, sport officials and club executives. Speakers praised the players, volunteers and supporters, and hinted at future infrastructure projects to meet the club’s new league requirements.

Bishop Franz Jung also sent congratulations, noting the excitement of the fans and urging the squad to maintain the determination they showed in the promotion matches as they prepare for the upcoming season in the 3. Liga.
