WSG Tirol secured a spot in the ÖFB-Cup quarterfinals after defeating FC Wacker Innsbruck in a dramatic penalty shootout. Playing in front of a capacity crowd of approximately 16,000 fans at the Tivoli stadium, the Bundesliga side narrowly avoided an upset by the second-division hosts.

After a competitive match that saw Husein Balic put WSG Tirol ahead, FC Wacker Innsbruck equalized through Luis Gstrein. The contest remained intense through extra time; Thomas Sabitzer scored for WSG Tirol in the 110th minute, but Gabriele Biancheri equalized for Wacker in the 116th minute.
