WSG Tirol aims to end winless run against SCR Altach
WSG Tirol have failed to beat SCR Altach in their last five Austrian Bundesliga meetings and will try to halt the negative streak in the opening match of the second round at Stadion Schnabelholz. Coach Philipp Semlic noted the team’s recent 1‑1 draw with Sturm Graz and a 0‑1 loss to Rapid, and highlighted the absence of forward Thomas Sabitzer (muscle injury) and the recovery of Quincy Butler. Mid‑fielder Marc Striednig could make his league debut.
Altach, coached by Ognjen Zaric, also seek to strengthen their attack. The club missed a major striker target and is looking to rely on Ousmane Diawara and recent signing Marko Raguz, while several players such as Valentino Müller, Matthäus Taferner and Johannes Naschberger remain contract‑free and may pursue opportunities abroad. Both sides hope the match will provide a chance to build on the continuity shown in recent line‑ups.
