WSO2 launches self-hostable AI governance for enterprises

WSO2 has introduced a self-hostable version of its AI control plane, AI Workspace, as part of its self-managed API Platform. This update allows enterprises and governments to host their AI governance infrastructure entirely within their own environments, including air-gapped systems.

The release aims to provide a sovereign governance layer for an organization’s AI estate, including models, agents, and MCP servers. This setup enables organizations to audit and enforce policies, manage employee access to both external and sovereign LLMs, and implement cost controls such as quotas and chargebacks without relying on vendor-hosted components.

By allowing the governance layer to remain within the customer’s own infrastructure, the tool is designed to help regulated organizations meet compliance expectations, such as those outlined in the EU AI Act, DORA, and NIS2, where control over AI decision-making and data residency is critical.
