Wüstenrot & Württembergische announces restructuring of housing division
Wüstenrot & Württembergische (W&W) has announced a major restructuring of its housing finance division, Wüstenrot, following significant losses in that sector. During a capital markets day, CFO Matthias Bogk stated that the division requires a complete overhaul of its computer systems, business processes, and product offerings to reduce operating costs.
In addition to the technical overhaul in the housing sector, Bogk identified potential personnel savings within the insurance division, Württembergische, specifically in claims processing. While the insurance arm returned to profitability in 2025 after facing losses from storm damage, the housing division has remained in the red through the first half of the year.
Specific figures regarding the volume of savings or potential job cuts have not yet been released, as the company intends to conduct discussions with employee representatives first. Strategically, W&W aims to fund residential real estate loans primarily through customer deposits and building society products to reduce reliance on capital markets.
