WTA nominates Iga Świątek as Madison Keys withdraws from Wuhan Open

The WTA has announced its ‘Star of the Swing’ nominations, including Iga Świątek and Jelena Rybakina. Świątek received the nomination following her victory at the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto and a semifinal appearance in Cincinnati, despite a fourth-round exit at the US Open.

In separate news regarding the Wuhan Open, Madison Keys has withdrawn from the tournament. Keys, who also skipped Beijing, expressed that she has been struggling with internal difficulties and needs to make changes. Her absence follows a period of emotional challenges on the court. Additionally, Victoria Mboko will miss the event due to a serious knee injury sustained during the grass-court season, with a potential return not expected until the 2027 Australian Open.
