WTFN promotes Michael McDermott to Head of Development

Australian production company WTFN has promoted Michael McDermott to the newly created position of Head of Development. McDermott, who joined the company in 2020 after completing a PhD in media and diversity studies, will lead development activities with a focus on navigating the evolving television and multi-platform content market. In this role, he will also collaborate with digital content company Radar to develop intellectual property for various audiences and platforms.

The promotion coincides with the announcement that Nine has commissioned the factual series ‘Police Australia’. McDermott developed and cast the six-hour observational documentary, which features frontline police officers in Western Australia performing general duties, organized-crime investigations, and special operations. The series is scheduled to air on Nine next year.
