Wube Software releases Factorio 2.1 as final major update
Wube Software has released version 2.1 of Factorio, marking the conclusion of the game's active major gameplay development. While the studio will continue to provide technical support and bug fixes, this update represents the end of large-scale feature additions after more than a decade of development.
The 2.1 update focuses on refining existing mechanics and improving quality of life. Key changes include the ability to flip the orientation of various facilities such as oil wells, fuel-powered drills, and inserters to optimize production lines. Improvements have also been made to the circuit network, allowing for different colored wiring for inputs and outputs.
For players of the Space Age expansion, updates include improved usability for space platforms, where rockets can now transport multiple item types in a single launch. Additionally, the width of space platforms now has a more significant impact on acceleration, and new unloading bays have been added near landing pads to allow inserters to retrieve items directly.
