British Columbia community events and local fundraisers

Various community and cultural events are taking place across British Columbia. In the Surrey and White Rock region, the annual Culture Crawl returns on October 3-4, featuring over 45 activities to showcase local artists and cultural organizations on the Semiahmoo Peninsula.

In Surrey, the 20th annual Surrey & White Rock Environment & Business Awards recognized three companies for environmental awareness: Moment Energy (Large Business), AGL Glazing (Medium), and ReuseTechBC (Small). Moment Energy was noted for its work in transforming retired electric-vehicle batteries into energy storage systems.

Fundraising efforts for youth services continue in the Okanagan and Kelowna regions. Urban Barn is matching donations to Foundry Kelowna through October, while an art auction at Predator Ridge on October 10 aims to support Foundry North Okanagan. Additionally, the BC Tasting Festival in Chilliwack recently held a sold-out fundraiser for the Chilliwack Academy of Music.

In Pitt Meadows, the city has issued a final call for Community Service Award nominations, which close on October 4, to recognize local individuals and businesses contributing to the community.
