Wuhan Metro Line 12 opens as China's longest circular line

Wuhan Metro Line 12 has officially entered full operation, marking the opening of the longest circular subway line in China. The line spans 59.9 kilometers and features 37 underground stations.

The route connects seven central districts in Wuhan and links two major railway hubs, Hankou Station and Wuchang Station. It offers transfers to 18 existing and planned lines, with a full loop taking approximately 96 minutes to complete.

Technically, the project involved crossing the Yangtze River twice and the Han River once. The construction utilized advanced shield tunneling technology to overcome challenges related to high water pressure and complex geological layers. The line is expected to reduce commuting bottlenecks caused by the natural barriers of the Yangtze and Han rivers, supporting the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
