Wuhan police help woman recover 18,800 NDT accidental taxi fare transfer

A woman in Wuhan, Hubei Province, mistakenly transferred over 18,800 NDT (approximately 72 million VND) to a taxi driver instead of the intended 18 NDT for her fare. The error occurred on the evening of March 21, 2026, after the passenger, identified as Ms. Tai, attended a class reunion involving alcohol.

After realizing the mistake, Ms. Tai was unable to contact the driver through the taxi company due to discrepancies in the trip information. She sought assistance from the Bei Hu Police Station in the Jianghan District.

Officer Song Nap Tan utilized transaction records, pickup/drop-off locations, and other data to identify the driver. Upon being contacted and informed of the situation, the driver cooperated and returned the funds at the police station.
