Wuhan resident reduces food costs by hiring home cook
Wei, a young professional living in Wuhan, China, has found a way to reduce her monthly food expenses by switching from food delivery apps to a home cooking service. Previously, Wei spent approximately 2,700 NDT (about 10.4 million VND) per month on food delivery.
To save money and ensure better food quality, she now pays 1,000 NDT (nearly 4 million VND) per month for a service where a cook visits her home. Under this arrangement, the cook prepares meals for multiple days, which Wei then reheats in a microwave. While the service fee covers the labor, Wei pays separately for all ingredients. This new method represents roughly 12.5% of her 8,000 NDT monthly income, a cost she considers more reasonable and efficient than relying on delivery services.
