Wujek mine miners end protest after agreement with PGG

Miners at the Wujek coal mine in Katowice have ended their protest following an agreement between the social side of the mine and Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG). The industrial action, which began on Friday, involved workers refusing to work and three individuals initiating a hunger strike.

The protesters were demanding a just energy transition and requested that the government not accelerate the liquidation of mines such as Wujek and Bielszowice. Additionally, workers sought to ensure that liquidation processes are carried out by the existing workforce rather than external companies.
