Wulff GmbH sausage recall in Germany over EHEC contamination

The district of Göttingen has issued a recall of several raw sausage products produced by Fleischwaren Wulff GmbH & Co. KG after laboratory tests detected Shiga‑toxin‑producing Escherichia coli (STEC/EHEC). The products, marketed under the Wulff brand, are distributed nationwide through grocery and wholesale channels.

Consumers are warned not to eat the recalled items, which include various types of minced and sliced raw sausages such as Schinken‑Streichmettwurst, Zwiebelmettwurst, and Bierknacker, identified by batch numbers 622501‑622512. Ingesting contaminated meat can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and in severe cases, bloody diarrhoea or acute kidney failure, especially in infants, the elderly and immunocompromised persons. Anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical attention and inform the clinician of possible EHEC exposure. The recall does not require prophylactic medical checks for asymptomatic individuals.

The affected products are sold across Germany, and the recall aims to prevent further illness while authorities monitor the situation.
