Wuppertal advances local infrastructure and sports facility projects

Wuppertal is seeing progress across several local infrastructure and sports facility projects. At the Opphof sports field, groundworks and drainage installation are complete, with artificial turf installation expected to finish in November. Plans are also underway to upgrade floodlights to energy-efficient LED technology.

At the Uellendahl sports field, the transition to LED floodlights is finished, a project costing approximately 90,000 euros that is expected to reduce energy consumption by 80 percent. Meanwhile, renovations on the Oberbergische Straße running track have faced delays due to personnel shortages, leaving the final red tartan coating pending.

In the city center, construction work on Poststraße has largely concluded. Local officials recently symbolically installed the final bronze plaque representing Wuppertal’s partner city, Liegnitz/Legnica, Poland. The plaques serve to commemorate Wuppertal’s international partnerships with cities in England, France, Germany, Slovakia, Nicaragua, and Israel.
