Wuppertal announces children's rights week and theater anniversary events
The city of Wuppertal is launching several initiatives focused on children and youth. From September 9 to 18, 2026, the city will host its first city-wide action week for children's rights under the motto ‘Strong Children, Strong Future’. The event involves various daycare centers, youth centers, and associations, culminating in a festival at Laurentiusplatz on September 18. The program includes stage performances, information booths, and a session where local politicians will answer questions from young citizens.
In a separate celebration, the Wuppertaler Schauspielhaus will mark its 60th anniversary with a special event on September 25 titled ‘For Children – Children take the house’. This collaborative project between the Pina Bausch Zentrum and local childcare services will allow 400 preschool children and 20 artists to use the theater as a creative space for movement, dance, music, and painting. The initiative includes a workshop week from September 14 to 18 to prepare the children for the main event.
