Wuppertal heat warning issued for July 13‑14, 2026
The German Weather Service (DWD) issued an official heat warning for North Rhine‑Westphalia that runs from 11:00 GMT on 13 July until 19:00 GMT on 14 July. The city of Wuppertal is included in the warning, with forecast temperatures expected to place a strong strain on residents.
The Wuppertal health department advises people to stay well hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during the peak heat hours, keep indoor spaces cool by ventilating in the early morning or evening, and seek shade or cool locations when outdoors. Special attention is urged for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, infants, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, caretakers, and outdoor workers. Symptoms like dizziness, severe headache, nausea, confusion or circulatory problems should prompt medical help, and emergency services can be reached at 112.
A biometeorological forecast for 12‑13 July indicated a high risk for general wellbeing, cardiovascular strain, rheumatic complaints and thermal stress, recommending outdoor activity be limited to cooler mornings and evenings, ample fluid intake, and heightened caution for older children and seniors.
