AEW and WWE clash in viewership battle amid Grand Slam France
Professional wrestling promotions AEW and WWE recently engaged in a viewership clash centered around AEW's Grand Slam France event in Paris. In a head-to-head Tuesday broadcast, WWE NXT drew 532,000 viewers, slightly outperforming AEW Dynamite, which reached 495,000. However, AEW secured a higher rating in the key 18-49 demographic with a .11 compared to NXT's .10.
While AEW's U.S. viewership has seen growth, the promotion is facing a significant decline in the United Kingdom. Reports indicate that AEW Dynamite and Collision averaged approximately 56,000 to 58,000 viewers on ITV4 in September, roughly half of the viewership recorded two years ago. This downturn in the U.K. market may be attributed to scheduling delays on ITV4 and the rise of MyAEW, a streaming service offering ad-free content and pay-per-view discounts that provides more value to hardcore fans.
In Paris, the Grand Slam France event featured high-stakes matches, including Andrade defending the AEW National Championship against Michael Oku and the Young Bucks defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
