Grayson Waller wins WWE NXT Championship at Heatwave

Grayson Waller has become the new WWE NXT Champion after winning a Fatal Four-Way match at NXT Heatwave, defeating Tony D'Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. Reports indicate that the decision to crown Waller was made shortly after his return to the developmental brand in July, following a request from NXT Creative Head Shawn Michaels to bring a serious disruptor to the men's division.

Waller has addressed his move, denying online narratives that his return to NXT was a demotion. He stated that the move was an authentic opportunity to showcase a more serious side of his character, contrasting with his previous role on the main roster with The New Day. A six-man tag team match is scheduled for the September 8 episode of NXT, featuring Mason Rook, Keanu Carver, Tony D'Angelo, EK Prosper, Saquon Shugars, and Cruz Montana. The winners of this match will advance to a triple threat match on September 15 to determine the number one contender for Waller's championship.
