WWE SmackDown: Jacy Jayne wins US Title and Chelsea Green faces injury setback
During the August 14 episode of WWE SmackDown in Boston, several major storylines and title changes occurred. Interim Women’s Champion Chelsea Green was ordered by General Manager Nick Aldis to relinquish her title due to a broken orbital bone sustained in a recent match against Fatal Influence. However, Aldis granted Green a 30-day window to receive medical clearance to defend the championship.
In the women’s division, Jacy Jayne of Fatal Influence defeated Tiffany Stratton to become the new WWE Women’s United States Champion. The match concluded after a distraction involving Green and members of Fatal Influence allowed Jayne to execute her finishing move.
In the men’s division, Baron Corbin successfully defended his WWE United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes. Meanwhile, a heated confrontation between CM Punk and Kevin Owens highlighted a 20-year professional rivalry dating back to their time in Ring of Honor. The two are scheduled to face each other for the Undisputed WWE Championship on August 21 in Toronto.
Other notable segments included Gunther defeating Matt Cardona and a chaotic brawl involving Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
