WWE Summer Tour and Raw storylines advance toward Mexico City

WWE's recent live events and television tapings in Canada have set the stage for major upcoming storylines. During the Summer Tour in Calgary and Edmonton, CM Punk successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship in a triple threat match against Cody Rhodes and Gunther. Other notable results included Chad Gable retaining the Intercontinental Championship and Baron Corbin retaining the United States Championship.

On the August 24 episode of Raw in Ottawa, the tournament to determine the number one contender for Roman Reigns' World Heavyweight Championship reached its semifinals. Rey Fenix and Penta both secured victories to advance to a brother-versus-brother final. The winner of this match will face Reigns on September 14 in Mexico City.
