WWE’s 2025 acquisition of AAA spurs rapid growth, says Rey and Dominik Mysterio

In April 2025 WWE announced the purchase of Mexico’s Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide at WrestleMania 41. The deal placed AAA under the WWE umbrella, allowing talent from both brands to appear on AAA shows that now air on FOX in Mexico and stream on YouTube. WWE Hall‑of‑Famer The Undertaker has taken a leading creative role, while AAA’s top champion Dominik Mysterio praised his work, stating, “Someone that’s very, very highly respected in our business… is not surprising to anybody.” Rey Mysterio, serving as an authority figure in the promotion, expressed optimism about the merger’s impact on global exposure of lucha libre. He highlighted the rapid evolution of the sport and the excitement among AAA talent. The partnership also fuels upcoming events such as the Worlds Collide show scheduled for Chicago’s Allstate Arena on 26 September, where current WWE champion CM Punk hinted at involvement.
