WWF Center in Crotone hosts environmental education and sea turtle release

The WWF Center in Crotone hosted an environmental education day focused on coastal protection and marine life conservation. The event included participation from students in the ‘Learning by Doing’ project, led by Professor Loris Rossetto.

Central to the event was the release of Stella, a Caretta caretta sea turtle. Stella had been rescued after a fishing hook was found in her throat. Following medical intervention by veterinarian Dr. Giuseppe Bruno to remove the hook, the turtle was successfully returned to her natural habitat.

The program emphasized the importance of managing beaches responsibly to protect nesting sites, reducing human disturbance, and understanding how human actions impact marine ecosystems.
