Crvena zvezda faces UEFA sanctions ahead of 180th Eternal Derby
The 180th Eternal Derby between Crvena zvezda and Partizan is approaching in the Serbian SuperLiga, set against a backdrop of significant disciplinary issues and regional football activity.
UEFA has imposed heavy sanctions on Crvena zvezda, totaling nearly 100,000 euros, due to discriminatory fan behavior and inappropriate messaging involving Ratko Mladić during a match in Plzen. The club also faces a ban on selling tickets to away fans for an upcoming European match, and player Osman Bukari has received a three-match suspension for an on-field incident.
In preparation for the derby, Partizan has called on fans to support the team responsibly to avoid further penalties and noted they have already paid approximately 250,000 euros in damages related to a previous match. Partizan's coach Saša Ilić is expected to field a modified lineup due to foreign player limits.
Simultaneously, the WWin league in Bosnia and Herzegovina is concluding its sixth round with three major derbies, including matchups involving Sarajevo, Borac, Željezničar, Velež, Zrinjski, and Široki Brijeg.
