Wyatt W50 Angus bull sets Australian beef cattle price record
An Angus bull named Wyatt W50 has set a new record for beef cattle in Australia. Sold at a Millah Murrah auction near Bathurst, New South Wales, the 19-month-old bull fetched 420,000 Australian dollars.
This sale surpasses the previous record for all beef cattle breeds, which was held by a Wagyu heifer that sold for 400,000 Australian dollars in 2022. The price also exceeds the previous Angus breed record of 360,000 Australian dollars set in 2023.
The buyer is Gundungarra Angus, an investment group based in Moss Vale. The sale includes high-value genetics, including traits such as ease of calving, high weight gain, and a diverse pedigree. The original owners, the Thompson family of Millah Murrah, retained a 20 percent stake in the animal and will collaborate with the new owners to utilize its reproductive potential.
