Wydad AC appoints Nasreddine Nabi as new head coach

Moroccan football club Wydad Athletic Club has officially appointed Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi to lead the first team. Nabi succeeds Portuguese manager Paulo Sergio, who departed following a disappointing start to the 2026-2027 season.

Under Sergio’s leadership, the club secured only five points from four matches, leaving them in ninth place in the Botola Pro D1 standings. The decision to part ways with Sergio followed a 1-1 draw against Union Touarga. Sergio expressed regret over not completing his project but praised the club’s supporters.

Nabi, 61, brings extensive experience in African football, having previously managed clubs such as AS FAR Rabat, Raja Casablanca, Young Africans, and Kaizer Chiefs. His contract is intended to stabilize the team and improve competitiveness in upcoming domestic and continental fixtures.
