Poland: Local communities hold historical and military commemorations

Various local communities across Poland are holding ceremonies and unveiling monuments to honor historical figures and military traditions.

In Wygiełdów, a new mural titled ‘Strażniczki nad Prosną’ was unveiled to commemorate the female firefighters who served in 1926. The artwork also depicts the historical Prosna river, which served as a border between Poland and Germany from 1918 to 1939.

In Kraków, a renovated monument in Prokocim was unveiled to honor residents who died fighting for independence or were murdered by German and Soviet occupiers during World War II. Similarly, in Wylatków, local officials and students gathered to pay tribute to residents executed by German forces in September 1939.

Military traditions are also being celebrated through various events. Bochnia is hosting festivities for the 15th anniversary of the 21st Logistics Battalion, including a commemorative run and military music performances. In Krasnystaw, the Reserve Soldier's Day will be observed with ceremonies and military equipment demonstrations. Additionally, the Volunteer Fire Department in Krzywe celebrated its 80th anniversary with a religious service and official honors for long-serving members.
