Wyśmierzyce church altar consecrated following renovation

Bishop Marek Solarczyk performed the consecration of the altar at the Church of St. Teresa of Avila in Wyśmierzyce on October 15. The ceremony followed extensive renovation work on the altar and presbyteryum, which aimed to restore the area to its original state.

During the conservation process, workers discovered historic frescoes likely dating back to 1905, depicting figures such as the four Evangelists. These paintings had been hidden under three layers of paint. Following orders from conservation authorities, the parish undertook the financial challenge to preserve these artworks for future generations.

Funding for the conservation work, which included the exterior elevation, drainage, and the renovation of the main altar, was obtained through three grants from the Polish Deal program. The main altar features a canvas painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa from 1857.
