Wyndham Clark secures Presidents Cup spot after BMW Championship win

Wyndham Clark has secured an automatic spot on the U.S. team for the upcoming Presidents Cup at Medinah following his victory at the BMW Championship. By winning the event at Bellerive Country Club, Clark moved to third in the FedEx Cup standings.

The other five automatic U.S. qualifiers are Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, and Collin Morikawa. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker will select six additional captain’s picks after the conclusion of the Tour Championship. Snedeker has already named Gary Woodland to his assistant coaching staff, joining Jim Furyk, Keegan Bradley, and Webb Simpson.

Separately, Clark addressed scrutiny regarding his final round at the BMW Championship. During the 14th hole, broadcast footage showed Clark placing multiple clubs in the rough while assessing his lie. Clark rejected suggestions that he improved his position, noting that scrutiny is inevitable when cameras are focused on a player.
