Wyndham Clark uses wooden coat hanger in British Open warm‑up

U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, who captured his second major title in June 2026, arrived in England to prepare for the British Open at Royal Birkdale. On Monday, Clark employed an unconventional training aid – a wooden coat hanger – to adjust his wrist angle and improve clubface squaring. He and instructor Pat Coyner explained that the device is used on “technical days” to flatten his left‑wrist cupping, and Clark typically swings the hanger 15‑20 times before moving to his clubs.

Clark, ranked 34th in the world after his recent victories, said his swing had felt “a little off” after the U.S. Open. The coat‑hanger routine has drawn attention on social media, but the golfer remains focused on the upcoming major, joining fellow competitors Cameron Young and Ludvig Aberg on Thursday’s first round.
