Wyoming Basketball Opens Season Against Regis University

The Wyoming Cowboys begin their 2026-27 basketball season tonight at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie against Regis University. Wyoming head coach Sundance Wicks enters his third season leading the program, aiming to extend a home non-conference winning streak to 14-0.

The matchup features a personal connection between Wicks and Regis head coach Rex Walters. Wicks credited Walters with providing him early career opportunities in 2015 after Wicks had been away from the game for three years.

Wyoming enters the season following a 2-1 exhibition record and was selected fifth in the Mountain West Preseason Poll. The team returns significant production, including over 45% of its scoring and 40% of its rebounding. Regis University, entering its second season under Walters, was projected to finish 15th in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
