Wyoming uranium attracts Taiwan partnership, $56M investment and a new major U.S. asset

Wyoming’s uranium sector is expanding rapidly. A new agreement with Taiwan will supply uranium for next‑generation reactors, part of the island’s effort to secure low‑carbon power for its AI‑driven semiconductor industry. President Lai Ching‑te highlighted the long‑standing collaboration, which includes prior memoranda on quantum computing.

Peninsula Energy has secured US$56 million in financing, backed by Soul Patts, to accelerate the Lance uranium project in Wyoming.

At the same time, the Aurora project has been identified as the largest indicated uranium asset in the United States, signaling a strategic shift toward a domestic nuclear fuel supply chain as pre‑feasibility work begins.

These developments occur amid broader challenges for the U.S. nuclear sector, including financial and legal troubles at small‑modular reactor firms such as NuScale Power and Fermi America, underscoring the mixed outlook for nuclear growth.
