Wysoka commemorates Father Władysław Patrycjusz Antosz

On September 23, 2026, ceremonies were held in Wysoka near Łańcut to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the death of Father Władysław Patrycjusz Antosz. The event served as the conclusion of the #ZAPOMNIANY project and included a solemn Mass led by Archbishop Adam Szal.

During the homily, Father Cyprian Mazurek highlighted Antosz’s deep roots in the local community and his significant religious and military legacy. After studying in Kraków and Lviv, Antosz was ordained in 1904. He became a prominent preacher, spreading devotion to St. Anthony across Poland, Russia, and Ukraine.

A defining moment in his life occurred in 1914 following a meeting with Józef Piłsudski, which led him to join the Polish Legions. He served as a chaplain in the Austrian army before fighting alongside the Polish Legions, eventually achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel.
