X-Elio inaugurates Lorca Solar plant in Spain
X-Elio has inaugurated Lorca Solar, a 368 MW photovoltaic plant located in Lorca, Murcia. Representing an investment of 335 million euros, it is one of the largest solar installations in the Region of Murcia and a major development for the company in Spain.
The facility is expected to produce approximately 683,374 MWh of clean energy annually, which is equivalent to the average yearly consumption of about 196,000 homes. The project involved over 2,100 professionals during construction, including 600 from neighboring municipalities and more than 80 local small and medium-sized enterprises.
A portion of the energy produced is already secured through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with several companies, including Thermo Fisher Scientific, GSK, Haleon, Gilead Sciences, Inc., and The Sherwin-Williams Company. The project was financed by Banco Santander, the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), and Unicaja.
