X launches hosted MCP server to give AI tools real‑time access to its social data

X has introduced a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets artificial‑intelligence tools read, search and analyze live public posts on its platform. Developers can connect AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor or Grok Build through the MCP layer using the permissions of an existing X account, eliminating the need to build and host a custom server. The service provides read‑only access, deliberately blocking automated posting, and introduces pricing per post (€0.015) and per link (€0.20) to discourage mass‑scale scraping while keeping targeted queries affordable.

MCP is an open standard designed to act as a universal adapter for AI models to reach external data sources, from business tools to content systems. By hosting the MCP server, X aims to become a real‑time information layer for AI applications, enabling use cases such as market sentiment analysis, rapid research summaries, or automated monitoring of breaking conversations.
