X Square Robot introduces TwinDEX for scalable dexterous manipulation

X Square Robot has introduced TwinDEX, a co-designed manipulation interface consisting of a wearable three-finger, nine-degree-of-freedom (9-DoF) device for data collection and a matching robotic end effector for deployment.

The system aims to solve the data bottleneck in dexterous manipulation by bridging the embodiment gap between human operators and robots. By ensuring kinematic, visual, and contact mechanics consistency between the wearable device and the robot, TwinDEX allows for “robot-free” data collection. This approach enables training models using data that does not require expensive and difficult-to-scale on-robot teleoperation.

Testing indicates that TwinDEX's data collection efficiency is 5.3 times higher than traditional robot teleoperation. Furthermore, the collected data has demonstrated the ability to nearly 100% replace real-machine teleoperation data in training models, providing a scalable path for advancing embodied intelligence and complex robotic tasks such as twisting, pouring, and tool usage.
