X sues Bitcoin influencers over alleged bot network fraud

X has filed a lawsuit in the High Court in London against Vivek Kumar Sen, Zamyang Sherpa, and several unidentified individuals, alleging they operated a coordinated bot network to defraud the platform’s Creator Revenue Sharing program.

The complaint, filed on September 17, alleges that the group used at least six accounts and several booster accounts to post near-identical Bitcoin-related content seconds apart. This tactic was reportedly used to manipulate engagement metrics—such as likes, replies, and reposts—to unlock payouts. X claims the scheme siphoned at least £207,384 (approximately $278,000) from the program.

James Burnham, general counsel for X and xAI, stated that the company will act forcefully to protect the platform and genuine creators from fraudulent behavior. The Creator Revenue Sharing program, which ran from July 2023 until September 2026, has since been replaced by the Original Content Rewards program, which is designed to exclude artificially generated engagement.
