X suspends accounts over alleged $250,000 revenue scheme

X has suspended several Bitcoin-focused accounts following allegations of a coordinated content farm scheme. Former product chief Nikita Bier reported that a single operator, linked to the account @Vivek4real_ operated by Vivek Sen, allegedly controlled more than 10 accounts to defraud the platform’s revenue-sharing program.

The scheme reportedly generated over $250,000 in revenue over a two-year period by downloading videos and posts from journalists and creators, removing watermarks, and re-uploading them to harvest engagement-based payouts. Bier stated the case is being forwarded to law enforcement.

In response to such issues, X is transitioning its monetization strategy. The current Creator Revenue Sharing program is scheduled to wind down by September 7, 2026. It will be replaced by the ‘Original Content Rewards’ program on September 8, which aims to prioritize original reporting, expertise, and creativity over recycled material.
