x-tention acquires majority stake in syndena GmbH

The x-tention Group has acquired a majority stake in the Innsbruck-based syndena GmbH. The partnership aims to structure and standardize decades of clinical documentation that has previously been stored as unstructured free text.

Using artificial intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP) combined with human quality assurance, syndena converts medical documentation into consistent, interoperable real-world data. This process is intended to make clinical data available for the upcoming secondary use requirements of the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

By transforming unstructured text into systematic databases, hospitals and research institutions can better utilize their own data for clinical research and care analysis without replacing clinical judgment. The acquisition is expected to help scale syndena’s technology from its headquarters in Tyrol to regional and international markets. Data sovereignty remains with the individual medical institutions, and processing is conducted using pseudonymized data.
