X to integrate cryptocurrency trading features

X is planning to integrate cryptocurrency trading directly into its platform as part of Elon Musk’s broader vision to transform the app into an all-in-one service for social media, commerce, and payments.

Nikita Bier, a former product development lead at X who remains an advisor, confirmed that trade buttons are coming soon. This follows the implementation of ‘Cashtags,’ which allow users to view price charts for assets like Ethereum and Solana directly within posts. The new functionality will enable users to view and trade cryptocurrencies without needing to switch to an external exchange or wallet. Additionally, users will be able to paste contract addresses for new tokens directly into posts to help identify specific blockchain assets.
