Xabi Alonso manages squad depth challenges at Chelsea

Manager Xabi Alonso faces significant tactical challenges at Chelsea due to the club's extensive squad depth. While the large number of players offers various options, it complicates team selection and squad harmony.

Key players such as Cole Palmer and João Pedro represent major investments in the attacking lineup. Alonso must determine how to integrate these talents into a coherent system that balances creative freedom with defensive solidity. The ability to rotate players like Moisés Caicedo, Pedro Neto, and Morgan Rogers allows for tactical flexibility, but it also makes the team's approach difficult to predict.

Alonso's success will depend on his ability to define clear roles for a wide range of player profiles and manage the competing demands of multiple competitions. This task follows a transfer strategy under ownership by Todd Boehly that has faced previous scrutiny.
