Xabi Alonso’s summer hometown Ágreda in Soria gains attention

Former Spanish footballer Xabi Alonso has long spent his summers in the small town of Ágreda, located in the province of Soria, Castilla y León. The connection began with his father, former player Periko Alonso, who visited the area for hunting trips from the late 1970s onward. Over decades the family established a permanent base, turning the visits into a regular family routine.

Ágreda, with its compact historic centre, medieval gates and the backdrop of the Moncayo mountain, has become a personal landmark for Alonso and his brother Mikel. A public proclamation during local festivities was interpreted by residents as a confirmation of the family's belonging to the community.
