Xabier Berasategi takes second place at Tour de Vendée
Xabier Berasategi secured second place at the Tour de Vendée, narrowly missing victory in a sprint finish against Alexis Renard. The 198.2-kilometer French classic ran from Saint-Jean-d'Hermine to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
Berasategi was part of the early breakaway and managed to secure significant UCI points through his performance. This result contributes to Euskaltel-Euskadi’s efforts to rank among the top 30 teams in the UCI classifications, a position necessary to secure invitations to Grand Tour races like La Vuelta.
Following the race, Berasategi noted the difficulty of the course and expressed satisfaction with his second-place finish despite fatigue during the final sprint.
