Xabier Isasa wins stage 6 of Volta a Portugal

The 87th Volta a Portugal continued with its sixth stage, traveling from Santa Maria da Feira to Peso da Régua. Spanish cyclist Xabier Isasa of Euskaltel-Euskadi won the stage after a strong sprint finish, ahead of Portugal’s Rui Oliveira.

In the general classification, race leader Alexis Guérin saw his advantage diminish. After being left isolated without team support during the decisive kilometers, Guérin lost 23 seconds to several key rivals. While he maintains the yellow jersey, the narrowed margin has intensified the competition heading into the decisive mountain stages.

The race has recently traversed several key regions of central Portugal, including significant stages through the Serra da Estrela and an individual time trial between Anadia and Águeda.
