xAI has expanded its agentic AI ecosystem into three distinct branches: Agent Tools API, Grok Build, and Grok Bot. The Agent Tools API, released in November 2025, allows developers to integrate web search, X search, and Python code execution into their own applications via xAI's infrastructure.

Grok Build, launched in May 2026, serves as a terminal-based coding agent designed for developers. The most advanced offering, Grok Bot, entered early beta in August 2026. Unlike traditional chatbots, Grok Bot operates on dedicated cloud-based virtual computers, allowing it to perform multi-step tasks autonomously by interacting directly with web interfaces, file systems, and applications as a human would.

Grok Bot is designed for persistent, long-running workflows. It can observe a user performing a task to learn new skills, coordinate with other specialized bots in group conversations, and continue working even after a user closes their device. This approach aims to bypass the limitations of traditional APIs by interacting with software through visual and manual-style navigation.
