xAI launches Grok Build 0.1 API for developers
xAI has opened its Grok Build 0.1 coding model to developers through a public‑beta API, allowing use without a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription. The model is trained for agentic coding tasks such as web development, debugging and multi‑step workflows, accepts text and image inputs, and offers a 256,000‑token context window with function calling and structured outputs.
Grok Build 0.1 supports up to eight parallel agents that can execute plan‑search‑build cycles simultaneously, enabling faster large‑scale refactoring. It integrates with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), letting developers plug in existing knowledge bases and APIs. Pricing is $1 per million input tokens and $2 per million output tokens.
Analysts note that the agentic coding market already includes Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, and Cursor. While Grok Build may lack published benchmarks, its parallelism and price point could attract high‑volume API workloads.
