xAI to release free version of Grok AI in 2026

xAI has announced that its artificial intelligence system, Grok, will be available for free on web and mobile platforms starting in 2026. This move follows a freemium strategy intended to expand the service's reach and compete within a crowded market of generative AI chatbots.

The free version will include basic conversational capabilities, voice interactions, and certain web and X search functions. However, access will be subject to usage limits. Advanced features, including the most recent models, image and video generation, and higher usage thresholds, will remain exclusive to paid subscribers, such as those on the SuperGrok plan.
