Xalapa Mayor Daniela Griego Ceballos Announces Infrastructure Upgrades and Disability Services

Mayor Daniela Griego Ceballos of Xalapa toured several neighborhoods, including El Tanque, Bosques del Sumidero and Jardines de El Castillo, to address resident requests for expanded drainage, water‑supply networks, street paving, green‑area maintenance, playground equipment, street lighting and storm‑water channels. She directed municipal water and sanitation officials to follow up on the projects, many of which already have executive designs, and ordered the public lighting department to install and maintain luminaires.

In parallel, the city council, in coordination with the local DIF system, strengthened the municipal Prosthetics and Orthotics Workshop and the Speech‑Therapy Workshop. The prosthetics unit produced 19 lower‑limb prostheses and an equal number of orthoses during the first half of the year, while the speech‑therapy unit served 289 children. Additional itinerant medical, dental, psychological and eye‑care campaigns reached hundreds of residents, and adapted public‑transport routes facilitated access for people with disabilities.

These coordinated actions aim to improve basic services, accessibility and overall quality of life for Xalapa’s population.
