Xalapa to host 5th National Meeting of Mexican Women Politicians

The city of Xalapa will host the 5th National Meeting of Mexican Women Politicians from October 16 to 18, 2026, at the Gran Hotel Xalapa. Organized by the Red Nacional de Mujeres Defensoras de la Paridad en Todo de la República Mexicana, the event operates under the theme ‘Substantive Equality without Political Violence’.

The gathering aims to strengthen women's political participation through dialogue and the development of strategies to achieve substantive equality, access to justice, and the eradication of gender-based political violence.

Key speakers include anthropologist and feminist scholar Marcela Lagarde y de los Ríos, who will present on ‘Sorority and the Political Agreement Among Women’, and former senator Beatriz Paredes Rangel, who will discuss ‘Democratic Governance with a Gender Perspective’. The program will also feature Sara Lovera and various legislators, academics, and journalists.
