Xalapa Water Commission Approves 5.1 million‑peso Budget Boost for 2026
In an extraordinary session chaired by Mayor Daniela Griego Ceballos, the governing body of the Comisión Municipal de Agua Potable y Saneamiento (CMAS) in Xalapa, Veracruz, approved a second amendment to the 2026 income and expenditure budget. The amendment reflects an increase in federal contributions of 5,156,122 pesos, earmarked for investment and public‑works projects.
The additional funds will be allocated to three specific actions: (1) relocation and rehabilitation of the Jaramillo‑Cerro del Estropajo pump‑line system in the Colonia Ejidal area; (2) construction of a bypass to improve the efficiency of the Niño Perdido, Encanto, Francisco Villa and Ferrocarrilero water tanks; and (3) water‑extraction work at the El Castillo congregation. Present at the session were Councilor Alfonso Osegueda Cruz, CMAS Director General Eric Omar Rodrigo Juárez Valladares, Administration Director Jaime Hernández Vázquez, and other senior officials.
The budget modification enables CMAS to execute the projects with its own resources alongside those of the Proagua 2026 program, aiming to enhance water supply and sanitation services for Xalapa residents.
